This tea is a grade A tea - or in other pu-erh rating systems equivalent to a grade 1 tea

- cooked pu'er from Menghai County's Yangji Tianyuan Factory (see also Tall Mountain Arbor). This tea carries the logo "Jia Ji", which means grade A tea. Grade A tea, or grade 1 tea, is the most tender grade of pu'er leaves. This is also an "old tree" tea, comprised of leaves from late Qing Dynasty trees that are mostly over 100 years old.

This tea features many of the excellent characteristics of Tall Mountain Arbor, but the leaves are of a higher grade, and may be appreciated by more advanced pu'er drinkers who wish to compare similar vintages from one factory.

The Yangji Tianyuan Factory is one of the new factories that was created in the early 2000's after the privitization of Yunnan's tea industry. The founder, Yang Jian Lin, began working at Menghai Tea Factory in 1983 and was promoted to Factory director in 2000 before starting Yangji Tianyuan in 2003. His family has worked in the tea industry in Menghai since the 1950's. They are from the Hani minority group, which is one of the first groups in China to begin cultivating pu-erh tea.
