This aged tea is a cooked pu'er cake from the year 2000. It comes from Menghai County - the source of all the highly regarded menghai tea.

The Chinese name "yue jiu yue chun" translates into, "the older it gets, the purer it gets". "Chun" can also be translated into "mellow", and is used to describe good wine as well. Considering it's in its 9th year, this aged tea should be entering its prime shortly, and should continue to age well long after most cooked pu-erh teas have begun to decline.

On the front if the packaging has the characters "Te Ji", which means special grade. In pu'erh tea rating systems, special grade is even higher than grade one. The leaves from this tree are all grown at around 1,800 meters above sea level in the Menghai region of Yunnan. A combination of suitable sunlight, clouds, rainfall, and altitude make this arguably the best pu'er growing region in Yunnan.

The tea is from Li Ming Tea factory, and carries two of its brand labels. The first is Ba Jiao Ting, which translates into "Octagonal Pavilion" and refers to a famous pavilion in Xishangbanna, the region of Yunnan where this tea is grown. The pavilion itself is also the site of "Message in a Bottle", the Dai Minority tragedy in which a message floating in a gourd arrives by the small river below the pavilion and saves the town, though it also leads to the princess and her husband being killed. The second brand is Kong Que Zhi Xiang, which means Peacock's village. This is another area in Yunnan that is famous for having an abundance of peacocks.
